It’s incredibly hard to create a book and an entire marketing scheme from the top of your head. There is nothing wrong with looking for some inspiration or visiting various sites to get some help! Have a look at some of our tips below to get some inspiration for your book.
Blog and Forums
- You can take inspiration from various writer’s blogs and forums, see what helped them when they submitted their work. You can always look for past stories of writers who have written work that is similar to you!
Book Title
- Your book title is one of the most standout features, it’ll be one of the first things people notice about your work. Unfortunately, as books have been out a very long time now, there’s also a lot of repeats in the names. Before you decide on your book’s title, make sure it’s not a title that’s been overused. Take a look online on different book shops and look at the genre sections to see what the same genre of your book has used as their names. Don’t copy them, but you’ll get a feel for what works
Your Cover!
- This is possibly the most important one on the list! We’ve said it before- people do judge a book by its cover, as much as we wish they wouldn’t. Before you decide what you want on your cover, have a look at other covers. The best thing to do is pop over to the New York best sellers list or Waterstones best selling list. Take a look at the books that are a similar genre and see the common features that they use. For example, big bold titles, one stand out features, particular colours that are used for certain genres.
Social Media!
- One thing that always shines on social media is a good picture! Take a look on Instagram on the #Bookstagram tag and see what others have been posting. Again, don’t copy the photo exactly. But you can take a look at some angles, colours and even props that they have used. Once you have some great photos of your book, you can use them for banners, giveaways and book related posts!
